Shelly Bay in Hamilton Parish is a beautiful beach and very family friendly with the playground right behind the beach. What many people may not know is that in low tide, it’s also a great place to explore the shoreline.

One of our favorite things to do as a family is to go to northern side of the beach and walk along the shoreline. If you lift some rocks and look closely you’ll see an abundance of marine life like crabs, shrimp, sea stars, juvenile fish, bristle worms (red fuzzy worm – don’t touch!) and even sea slugs. It makes for an exciting beach excursion that could end up lasting the whole day as the kids won’t want to leave! It’s a good idea to wear water shoes, sun shirt and hat and pack food and lots of water.
